Victoria – FC Victoria, the women’s football club of Nomen, won the prestigious UBN Championship on Friday 22 October against city rivals the Merseyside Blues. This is the 3rd title of the season that the ‘Red Queens’ won. After a rough couple of seasons and some rebuilding within the squad, they are finally back to their glory years of dominance.

“I’m really proud of my team mates. It’s unusual that a squad clicks right away, but our coach found the perfect balance in the team. We didn’t get the results we wanted last season, so I’m happy that we have found the perfect chemistry. We really deserved this victory! We have waited four years to lift this trophy again.” said captain Carla Ivanovič.
FC Victoria won the game 4–1 with goals from Solarez, Gvardiola and two spectacular goals from Ivanovič.
FC Victoria lost the UBN Championship final in 2017 to the Merseyside Blues and hadn’t been able to advance to the knockout stages ever since. This year was the first time they advanced further than the group stages.
She added: “To beat our rivals in the UBN Championship is the icing on the cake. I’m glad we could get our revenge. That night kept replaying in my head before the game, but I didn’t tell anybody. As a captain it is my responsibility to stay focused and encourage the squad.”
Coach Kirsten Hjöberg: “I’m so proud of my girls. They worked a lot of hours training to achieve this result. It is a dream to play in the UBN Championship for many, but to win it? It’s an unbelievable feeling that I, and especially the players, will never forget. Now it’s time to celebrate and get some rest, but there are still trophies to be won this season. We will stay focused and bring back the prestigious quintuple.” (= five trophies in a single season)”
